Center for Research and Advocacy on Women and Advocacy (CRAWAH)

Is a Gambian-led organization founded in 2019 with a clear conviction: healthy societies begin with informed women and empowered adolescents.

From urban centres to rural communities, from schools to military camps, CRAWAH has consistently worked at the grassroots engaging adolescents, parents, educators and institutions in honest, respectful and transformative dialogues as well as bringing sexual and reproductive health conversations to spaces where silence and ignorance once prevailed. Because we believe that, information saves lives, research strengthens advocacy and collaboration accelerates impact.

Driving evidence-based solutions in a unique context

We drive evidence-based solutions rooted in real lives, real data, and real community experiences. We do not impose solutions, we create them with the people most affected.

Advocacy & Outreach

We engage directly with communities, schools, institutions and decision makers to amplify lived realities and turn voices into visibility. Through these, we challenge harmful norms, influence policy conversations and expand access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information where it is need the most.

Our Journey of Change

Foundational Research & Community Roots

From the start, we focused on enhancing the knowledge of adolescents, women and relevant stakeholders on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. We visited different communities and schools from Banjul to Tujereng, also visited various military camps to engage the security on key health issues.

Research and Advocacy Implementation

We founded and launched a Comprehensive Health Education program (CHE), partnered with key advocacy organizations to improve reproductive health outcomes in schools and communities in region one (1).

Summer Empowerment Camp

Organized a 7-day camp at Kartong where we unlocked potentials, nurtured talents, enhanced knowledge, built the capacity and inspired leadership among 75+ adolescents through holistic learning, character development and practical empowerment.

We collaborate with leading organizations advancing research and advocacy on women’s and adolescent health. From grassroots groups to established leaders, we work together to create meaningful impact.
