From the 19th–21st October 2025, a team from the Comprehensive Health and Sexuality Education Scale-Up Project, comprising the Principal Investigator, Dr. Jainaba Sey, the Co-Principal Investigator, Mrs. Phebian I.G.
Sagnia, the UTG Communications Officer, Mr. Sheikh Tijan, the CRAWAH Communications Officer, Mr. Ebrima Barry, and the focal person at URR Mr. Kelefa Kandy from RHD conducted a successful three-day courtesy engagement mission in the Upper River Region.
The team met with the Governor and Deputy Governor, Regional Health and Education Directorates, school principals, relevant cluster monitors and community stakeholders including Alkalis, VDC Chairs, youth and women leaders, and frontline health workers across eight communities.
The visits reinforced strong collaboration, awareness, and ownership of the upcoming CHES Scale-Up Project focusing on both in-school and out-of-school adolescents. Stakeholders welcomed the initiative as timely and vital for addressing issues such as child marriage, GBV, menstrual health, and broader SRH challenges in URR.
Together, we move forward with shared commitment to empower adolescents and improve health outcomes in The Gambia.
