Today, the CRAWAH Team in collaboration with the University of The Gambia (UTG) commenced the training of data collectors in preparation for the baseline survey for WCR 2 and URR under the Scaling–Up Comprehensive Health and Sexuality Education (CHES) in The Gambia Project.

The survey will target both in–school and out–of–school adolescents, community members & other relevant stakeholders.

The day began with a presentation on the Logistics and Terms of Reference (ToR) for the activity, delivered by Mr. Lamin Bayo and Dr. Abdoulie Jadama. This session clearly outlined the purpose of the training, expectations, field arrangements & responsibilities.

Dr. Lang Sanyang then led a presentation on the importance of accuracy & professionalism in data collection. He emphasized that the quality of data must not be compromised & encouraged all to uphold honesty, responsibility & objectivity in all field activities.

A brief overview of the CHES Project was presented by Associate Professor Jainaba SeySawo, giving enumerators a clear understanding of the project’s mission, vision & objectives.

Associate Professor Thomas Senghore introduced participants to the data collection methodologies.

The session on Ethical Considerations in Research on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health was delivered by Associate Professor Haddy Tunkara Bah who guided participants on who is an adolescent, possible field challenges, confidentiality, consent procedures, professional conduct & safeguarding principles necessary to achieve the goal.

An overview of the Sexual Exploitation, Abuse & Harassment (SEAH) Policy was presented by Associate Professor Jainaba SeySawo & Mrs. Phebian Ina Grant-Sagnia, to ensure a safe & violence free research environment.
